The East River.

DSCN1368

Fourth of July in the city is something to be remembered if you manage to be on the river watching fireworks and enjoying the great company of friends. Fortunately I was able to do just that and see the most amazing fireworks I have ever seen in my life! I'll be back to celebrate the Fourth in NYC again.

The view from the river walk at Carl Shurz Park at night is one of my absolute favorite things about this city. When I come back, I am living in the upper east Manhattan as close as I can get to this park and the river.

I think I could spend half my life leaning against the railing with the wind in my face. Once it gets really dark, the quietness and stillness of the river is so beautiful and refreshing that it can hardly be explained. Every bit of the scene is perfect poetry in slow motion. Won't you join me for a walk there sometime soon?

New York Holiday.

DSCN1351_1

New York is ready for the Fourth of July. Flags are flying, the weather is beautiful, and summer sales are in full swing.

When I was shopping this afternoon at Rockefeller Plaza and on Fifth Avenue, it seemed as if Audrey Hepburn should be around any corner in a wide brimmed floppy hat and big sunglasses. I don't know if the fact that I had just explored the famous Tiffany's & Co. had anything to do with it or not, but there you have it. Such fun.

Good-bye.

With the sad departure of my dear friend Liz from New York City to the smoking wilds of Texas, I feel it is time to at least share the one and only photo from many nights of laughter, tears, and fun. This particular night we had discovered the best pizza place- Patsy's Pizzeria- in all of New York and then followed an entire pizza up with delicious cheesecake from Verniero's. Amazing.
